Committee Structure
There are three standing committees, in addition to the special interest
groups called "pods" that direct our grantmaking in a specific geographic
region.
- Grants Committee – Sydney Munger, chair. The Grants
committee consists of the leaders of the pods and other interested parties.
They define the grantmaking process for each year and ensure consistency
in our grantmaking practices. Each pod chooses the grant criteria for
their region, the countries in which to work, the organizations to approach
for proposals and, ultimately, the grants to award.
- Education Committee – Kara Palmer Johnson, chair. The
Education committee plans and organizes the study programs and other
educational events we host each year. Informal education also goes on
in the pods.
- Member Care Committee – The Member
Care committee is responsible for nurturing the Pangea community. Committee
members welcome and orient new members, prepare the quarterly member
newsletter, and plan social events.
Special purpose task forces are assembled from time to time to focus on
a particular issue: this year, one task force is considering our monitoring
and evaluation process and another is exploring how to deepen our grantmaking
impact.
Members
Pangea currently has 52 members who range in age from 28 to over 70.
Membership is open to anyone who pays the membership fee and minimum contribution
to the grant pool
